As a Sports Therapist in St Helens for nearly 30 years – I have a great interest in helping to treat musculoskeletal injuries with massage, acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as a whole.
I work with all genders, supporting professional and amateur athletes as well as everyday people at every stage of their fitness journey. With a strong focus on working with boxers, martial artists and rugby players (I started off as the physio for Haydock ARLFC way back in 2002…jeez that’s a long time ago!), my approach combines hands-on expertise with tailored treatments to get bodies moving, stronger and pain free quicker.
Unlike Western Medicine, Acupuncture is a bespoke treatment for each person – for instance; if you and I attended our GP due to migraines, we would both be given the same medication – however, your migraines could be stress related, whereas my migraines could be triggered by food or lights etc. This is where acupuncture treats the person “holistically”, as an acupuncturist I look at the whole picture, not just the symptoms, I look for the root cause and help you rebalance your own body by inserting small acupuncture pins in selected points along the meridian lines. These pins are left in place for around 30mins, during the time you may feel different sensations around the points – this is the Qi or energy coming to the needle. The insertion of the pins themselves is virtually pain free and some clients even fall asleep during an acupuncture session as it is very relaxing.
